Land Rover is a British car manufacturer with its headquarters in Gaydon, Warwickshire, United Kingdom, which specializes in four-wheel-drive vehicles. It was presently owned by the Indian company Tata Motors, forming part of their Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) group. It is the second oldest four-wheel-drive car brand in the world after Jeep.
The first Land Rover was created after World War II by British brothers, Spencer and Maurice Wilks. Both had worked with the British automaker Rover to create the first Land Rover in 1948 after admiring the rugged and versatile nature of the U.S. Army’s Jeep. The vehicle was called the Series 1, and was equipped with permanent four-wheel-drive, a canvas roof and optional doors. These early Land Rovers were well-suited for operations in the field.
The Land Rover logo bears its company name like other car logos. It is described as a green oval badge with Land Rover text on the inside.
