Mitsubishi was founded by Yataro Iwasaki in 1870s as a shipping company. After the Second World War, the company ventured in auto manufacturing. Its first product is the low-cost 3-wheel mini trucks to meet the demand from the rebuilding Japanese society. In 1970, the automotive division formally split from its group and became Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC).
The company prospered in the following years. Many of its popular car models include Space Wagon, Pajero, Starion, Eclipse and Lancer Evo. It was also renowned for high-tech features.
