Spyker is a Dutch car had existed long in the history as car maker. In a flashback, Spyker started in 1880 by coachbuilders Jacobus and Hendrik-Jan Spijker, but to be able to market the brand better in foreign countries, in 1903 the ‘ij’ was changed into ‘y’. They were originally based in Hilversum but in 1898 moved to Trompenburg, Amsterdam. It is the one responsible for manufacturing the Dutch Queen’s “Golden Carriage” in 1898 and still in use today. The company produced cars, aircraft and aircraft engines during the war. The death of its founder led to bankruptcy.

In 1999, it was revived by Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn in 1999, and since 2000, Spyker has been building exclusive sports cars like the C8 Spyder and the C8 Laviolette (with its elegant glass roof). It had also ventured in motor racing but had failed.

The modern Spyker Cars only has the legal right to the brand name. Spyker logo is not as popular like other car logos. The Spyker logo displays the piston engine of an airplane, a reference to the historic Spyker company which manufactured aircraft. It also shows spokes and a ring with the company’s motto “Nulla tenaci invia est via”, which is Latin for “For the tenacious. No road is impassable.” The Spyker logo shows its character like other car logos in motor industry. It marked a name in history even it has undergone a lot of challenges in a vast competition and advertising of car logos.
